Not many film franchises where you can take the entire combined score of every movie, pick a random timestamp in it, and land on a moment of musical genius every single time. Friggin' incredible. My favorite, as hard as it is to pick one, is the Rohan theme that plays over the charge of the Rohirrim at the Battle of Pelenor Fields, which is also my favorite moment in Return of the King.

IF You don't know anything about the games this is still a very bad written show. In my opinion IF you do know the games pretty good this is one of the top 5 worst written shows ever. It looked really good i thought. If they had just started out and done the same story from any of the games and just made each game a season or maybe 2 this would have been one of the best shows in years. Fellout and Nuka-Break are better.

Just because Fallout sucks, doesn’t automatically excuse the 2023 Super Mario Bros movie of its poor quality writing either. We even already have examples of better Mario adaptations from a previous video comment section where I even pointed out that the 93 film had better written characters than the 2023 film and that the SMB 3 show was the best representation of the games. The problem with the 2023 film was not just pointless references, it was it’s poorly constructed story that was just “and then” which as pointed out by the creators of South Park that it’s not a story, and that the roles (aside from Princess Peach) were horribly miscasted where they just went with famous Hollywood actors and not those who actually fit the roles. It also suffers from cramming in too many Mario games into one movie where it gets rather disjointed. If you want a better constructed Nintendo based movie with an interesting plot that has aged far better by comparison, go watch Pokémon The First Movie. Or hell any of the original 3 1/2 Pokémon films from the late 90’s to early 2000’s (including Mewtwo Returns which is long overdue for a proper Blu-Ray release).

It is so strange to me that anyone would dare to unironically argue that the Fallout TV show is a great example of how NOT to do fan service. It's interesting to me that SO MUCH of the ai discussion is about current state and seems to rarely address futurestate. For instance, the people that say they don't care because ai art is shit and they can always tell. Firstly, the "shit" ai is very low level consumer grade stuff. Secondly, even that has progressed tremendously in just the past couple of years. Thirdly, I promise they've seen ai art that they didn't know was ai art, either from just high quality or from not taking the time to look closely. Don't talk about ai art that you're seeing and can tell. That's already outdated and there's been improvements. Don't bother talking about where it is, because that's already too late. Yes, technically, some form of ai has assisted in image acquisition and manipulation for a very long time. But, it's always been in assistance to the artist. Now, the ai is getting to the point where it is the artist and the "artist" is just the client requesting the artist to make them an image that they want based on this idea. That's always been what the client/artist relationship has been. It's just now shifted to the client claiming "I made this" because there's not a human artist, but the ai is the artist, not the guy saying "make me a cute anime girl with big boobs and pink hair in a fantasy setting cooking egss" or whatever. The prompts are just what a human/corporation client has always given to the human artist. But, now, we're skipping the human artist and saying "Good job me, for telling the ai what to make." But, yes, to a point, ai has been in use for quite some time - as an assistant tool to the hands-on artist. Examples: The Generative Expand tool in Photoshop. It doesn't create a whole new image. It does its best to fill in pixels so that they don't look stretched as much. It's best used on a background with low detail. Also, animation/cgi. The dinosaurs/orcs are created by an artist, then the program is given parameters to have them make a controlled scatter in a scene so that they're not all running in a straight line. It depends on the individual where their personal line is or isn't crossed in this debate, but the further we get from assistant to primary artist, the more clear that line often becomes.

It seems to be that a majority of people would say that they are opposed to the use of ai in lots of things, including art. However, most of those people wouldn't recognize it (though claim that they would) or just don't care when faced with a brand using it. I even know some pretty religious people that claim that ai is the mark of the beast (which seems to change every few years, so seems to be a fairly unreliable attribution) and they are "extremely morally opposed to it." But when I've pointed out where ai is in use in common everyday life, they're shrugged it off as "in this case, eh. it's not hurting anyone." Very consumer behavior to something that there's a proclaimed moral ground against.

Personal theory: Fallout is a much more niche property compared to LoTR; While Loops of Authority from amazon was horrible and the real-world audience was so large it was impossible to cover up in the end with fake reviews, bots, etc, Fallout just doesn't have the numbers of people who care that much. Amazon's massive 'marketing' budget will keep it alive until it is no longer statistically advantageous to try and lure more eyes towards it (maybe into season 2 at this rate), then it will have it's public opinion 'rude awakening' while all the bots and tourists alike forget about it and go quiet, but the fans and people who care about quality content will have their negative reviews rise to the top. History repeats itself.
